The Ferrari F430 is a sports car produced by the Italian automaker Ferrari from 2004 to 2009, as a successor to the 360. It debuted at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. European left-hand drive sales began in November 2004, but right-hand drive sales did not start until Spring 2005, and the North American market did not get the F430 until Summer 2005. Its replacement, the Ferrari 458 Italia, was unveiled on 28 July 2009 and is expected to go on sale in Spring 2010.

The MSRP for a Ferrari F430 is $168,005 to $227,000 in the United States, £118,500 in the United Kingdom, approximately €175,000 in the European Union and $389,000 for the base model to $450,000 for the Spider F1 in Australia.

The F430 features a 4.3L V8 petrol engine derived from a shared Ferrari/Maserati design. This new power plant is a significant departure for the F430 line: the engines of all previous V8 Ferraris were descendants of the Dino racing program of the 1950s. This fifty year development cycle came to an end with the entirely new 4.3L, the architecture of which is expected to replace the Dino-derived V12 in most other Ferrari cars. The engine's output specifications are: 490 PS (360 kW; 483 hp) at 8500 rpm and 465 N·m (343 lb·ft) of torque at 5250 rpm. The F430 has a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h).

Ferrari S.p.A. is a sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal vehicles in 1947 as Ferrari S.p.A.. Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has enjoyed great success.

Ferrari's first vehicle was the 125 S sports/racing model. In 1949, the Ferrari 166 Inter, the company's first move into the grand touring market, which continues to make up the bulk of Ferrari sales to the present day.

Several early cars featured bodywork customised by a number of coachbuilders such as Pininfarina, Zagato and Bertone.

The Dino was the first mid-engined Ferrari. This layout would go on to be used in most Ferraris of the 1980s and 1990s. V6 and V8 Ferrari models make up well over half of the marque's total production.

For a time, Ferrari built 2+2 versions of its mid-engined V8 cars. Although they looked quite different from their 2-seat counterparts, both the GT4 and Mondial were closely related to the 308 GTB.

The company has also produced front-engined 2+2 cars, culminating in the current 612 Scaglietti and California.

Ferrari entered the mid-engined 12-cylinder fray with the Berlinetta Boxer in 1973. The later Testarossa remains one of the most famous Ferraris.

The high performance super vehicle known as the Ferrari F50 is made by Italian car stalwarts Ferrari. The vehicle was first unveiled in the year 1995 – the fiftieth anniversary of Ferrari.

The Ferrari F50 is a two door, two seat convertible that comes with a removable hard top. It boasts a 4.7 L 60 valve V12 Configuration that is naturally aspirated. This Configuration was developed from the 3.5 L V12 Configuration that had been used in the Ferrari F92 Formula One car of 1992. Only three hundred forty nine units of the Ferrari F50 were issued. The very last Ferrari F50 was produced in the summer of 1997 in Maranello, Italy. The Configuration of the Ferrari F50 was originally used in the Ferrari 333 SP for the American IMSA series in the year 1994.
Following upon the heels of its motor sports theme, Ferrari developed the Ferrari F50 GT. The Ferrari F50 GT was a prototype that was based on the Ferrari F50. It was meant to compete in GT1 class racing. The Ferrari F50 GT came with a large rear spoiler, fixed roof, and several other adjustments. The car came with a 4.7 L V12 Configuration that was tuned to generate about seven hundred fifty bhp.

A V12 engine is a V engine with 12 cylinders mounted on the crankcase in two banks of six cylinders, usually but not always at a 60° angle to each other, with all 12 pistons driving a common crankshaft.

Since each cylinder bank is essentially a straight-6, this configuration has perfect primary and secondary balance no matter which V angle is used and therefore needs no balance shafts. A V12 with two banks of six cylinders angled at 60°, 120°, or 180° from each other has even firing with power pulses delivered twice as often per revolution as, and is smoother than a straight-6 because there is always even positive net torque output with little variation. This allows for great refinement in a luxury car. In a racing car, the rotating parts can be made much lighter and thus more responsive, since there is no need to use counterweights on the crankshaft as is needed in a 90° V8 and less need for the inertial mass in a flywheel to smooth out the power delivery. In a large displacement, heavy-duty engine, a V12 can run slower than smaller engines, prolonging engine life.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a British manufacturer of luxury automobiles based in Goodwood, England. It is the current producer of Rolls-Royce branded automobiles, whose historical production dates back to 1904. The factory is located across from the historic Goodwood Circuit in Goodwood, West Sussex, England. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the BMW Group.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd began manufacturing cars in 2003. The factory at Goodwood is the fifth Rolls-Royce UK based automobile production facilty since the company was founded in 1904. The previous four were located in Manchester, London, Derby, and Crewe.

Previous iterations of the company include Rolls-Royce Limited and Rolls-Royce Motors.

In 1998, owners Vickers decided to sell Rolls-Royce Motors. The most likely buyer was BMW, who already supplied engines and other components for Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, but BMW's final offer of £340m was beaten by Volkswagen's £430m.

A stipulation in the ownership documents of Rolls-Royce dictated that Rolls-Royce plc, the aero-engine maker would retain certain essential trademarks (the Rolls-Royce name and logo) if the automotive division was sold. Rolls-Royce plc chose to license not to VW but to BMW, with whom it had recently had joint business ventures. VW had bought rights to the "Spirit of Ecstasy" bonnet (hood) ornament and the shape of the radiator grille, but it lacked rights to the Rolls-Royce name necessary to build the cars. Likewise, BMW lacked rights to the grille and mascot. BMW bought an option on the trademarks, licensing the name and "RR" logo for £40m, a deal that many commentators thought was a bargain for possibly the most valuable property in the deal. VW claimed that it had only really wanted Bentley anyway.

BMW and VW arrived at a solution. From 1998 to 2002 BMW would continue to supply engines for the cars and would allow use of the names, but this would cease on 1 January 2003. From that date, only BMW would be able to name cars "Rolls-Royce", and VW's former Rolls-Royce/Bentley division would build only cars called "Bentley". The Rolls-Royce's Corniche ceased production in 2002.

It doesn't seem long since we were at Maranello driving the F430, but at Ferrari the life cycle of its cars is measured in just five years. So, now's the time for a new mid-engined Ferrari. The 458 Italia.

Yet again, the new model looks completely different to its predecessor. Gone are the traditional massive air intakes behind the doors and that simple move, leaving an expanse of contoured bodywork in its place, changes the whole character.

The visual changes continue throughout. There are small engine air intakes hidden behind the small triangular windows behind the doors and others around the headlights sucking air through the wheelarches to reduce drag.

Those small winglets in the very front actually deform at speed to redirect air beneath the car instead of to the radiators. The Italia is simply full of clever, well thought out details.

That there's a 4.5-litre V8 is no surprise, but this engine is the direct-petrol injection version launched just a year ago in the California. Here, though, there's a weighty 570hp.

The 458 also gets the California's (and Mercedes SLS's) Getrag double clutch transmission that promises all that the paddle shift offered in the F430 F1 but with 2010 levels of sophistication.

This Ferrari goes on sale in the UK next May. Prices have yet to be fixed, but reckon on at least 10% more than the regular F430, which means a minimum of £160,000.

Mind you, with performance that equals the outgoing £180,000 F430 Scuderia, it promises so much. McLaren, with the launch of its MP4-12C, will be keenly aware of the threat.
