Lamborghini cars are much-loved by car aficionados around the world. They have excellent performance in terms of speed and built with style. The main characteristics of a Lamborghini cars are its tremendous style and tremendous speed. They are the number one rival of Ferrari. And if you happen to live in Beverly Hills you will likely see a scissor-door Lamborghini at malls , drive thrus and coffee shops. These kind of vehicles are designed exclusively for some customers.


The founder of Lamborghini, Ferruccio Lamborghini, who served with the Air Force mechanics corps with Italy during the World War II. And he was good in working with engines. When World War II was over there was a shortage of tractors. Lamborghini grabbed the opportunity and he bought military machines that were a surplus and changed them to tractors. It was a brilliant idea and his move resulted in a thriving business career as a young entrepreneur. And it made him a very wealthy man very quickly.

The tractor business of Lamborghini became more successful during 1950 and they expanded to heater and air conditioning business and was even a more flourishing business. Lamborghini was a car lover and he had a lot of sports car that were considered the best at that time. And because of his frustration of Ferrari cars he built a car that was more better from the Ferraris. He built a state of the art automotive factory in the small village of Sant'Agata. And his automotive engineer was Giotto Bizzarrini who worked with Ferrari before. The tractor business also faced hard times during the early 70's that led Lamborghini to sell his controlling interest of Automobili Lamborghini SpA to a Swiss industrialist. When the oil crisis came his problems worsened and led him to sell his shares that were left. But after ten years Lamborghini declared bankruptcy because the development of the military truck style Cheetah were not selling well.

But on 1980 the company rose back and the reason for this was the introduction and popularity of Countach. It is an over the top, fully styled with angles and vents sports car. In 1987 the Lamborghini was sold to Chrysler. There was also another change of ownership in 1994.

Lamborghini has already produced models like the four-seater Espada and other V8 sports cars. And cars such as the Countach and the Diablo are always recognized as Lamborghini cars.

The Lamborghini Miura is a sports car produced by Italian automaker Lamborghini between 1966 and 1972. The car is widely considered to have begun the trend of high performance, two-seater, mid-engined sports cars. While the mid-engined layout had been used successfully in competition in cars such as the Ford GT40 and Ferrari 250 LM at Le Mans, the Miura was the first viable road car sporting the layout.

The Miura was originally conceived by Lamborghini's engineering team, who designed the car in their spare time against the wishes of company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, who showed a preference towards producing powerful yet sedate grand touring cars, rather than the racecar-derived machines produced by local rival Ferrari.

When its rolling chassis was presented at the 1965 Turin auto show, and the prototype P400 debuted at the 1966 Geneva show, the car received a stellar reception from showgoers and motoring press alike, who were impressed by Marcelo Gandini's sleek styling as well as the car's revolutionary design. Lamborghini's halo car, the Miura received periodic updates and remained in production until 1972, and was not replaced in the automaker's lineup until the Countach entered production in 1974, amidst tumultuous financial times for the company.

Early Miuras, known as P400s (for Posteriore 4 litri), were powered by a version of the 3.9 L Lamborghini V12 engine used in the 400GT at the time, only mounted transversely and producing 350 PS (260 kW; 350 hp). About 275 P400s were produced between 1966 and 1969 - a success for Lamborghini despite its then-steep $20,000 USD price (approx. $114,000 in today's terms).

Lamborghini Alar is a mid-engined sports car produced by Lamborghini LatinoAmerica. A unit is rumored to cost $750,000 each. The Alar was heavily based on the Diablo especially in the areas of chassis and engine. Other components are made locally by the company. It has yet to be produced with rumors suggesting first production will be in March 2008, but has not yet come to production due to a lack of customer orders.

The engine of the Alar is a heavily modified Lamborghini Diablo engine, it is a 7.7 L V12 able to produce 770 bhp (574 kW) and can redline at about 7500 rpm. Its body weighs relatively the same as a Diablo at 1,200 kg (2,646 lb). Initial Reports suggest the Alar could top 223 mph (359 km/h) and could reach 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.5 to 4 seconds, but subsequent official brochures have outlined its specifications. The estimated top speed of the Alar is 255.2 mph (410.7 km/h) and 0-60 mph (97 km/h) is achievable in 3.6 seconds.

Although it shares the same platform and engine as the Lamborghini Diablo its outer styling is completely different. Its styling is reminiscent of the Lamborghini Coatl, which is another car produced by Lamborghini LatinoAmerica and designed by Joan Ferci. Like the Alar the Coatl is also based on the earlier Diablo.

Italian super sports car manufacturer Lamborghini will double its UK representation with the opening of two new dealerships in Birmingham and Edinburgh. Both operated by Sytner Group Ltd., Lamborghini Birmingham and Lamborghini Edinburgh will join existing dealerships in London and Manchester managed by H.R. Owen plc. A further service centre is based in High Wycombe.

The two new businesses will both operate from interim facilities until purpose-built showrooms open later in the year. Lamborghini Birmingham will be based alongside Sytner’s existing Bentley franchise in the north of Birmingham until Sytner’s multi-million pound showroom development is completed at Fort Dunlop in the autumn, which will include a dedicated Lamborghini facility. Lamborghini Edinburgh will operate from the multi-franchise Fort Kinnaird location where a new Lamborghini showroom is planned.

In 2005, Lamborghini delivered 1,600 units worldwide. The range is now comprised of four models, including the new V12 Murciélago LP640 announced at Geneva Motor Show in March, and the new convertible Gallardo Spyder of which UK customer deliveries have just commenced. The V10 Gallardo coupé and Murciélago Roadster complete the line-up.

Automobili Lamborghini has significantly developed its world-wide dealer network, with 65 dealerships in place at the start of 2005 growing to a current total of 86 including Lamborghini Birmingham and Edinburgh.

The Lamborghini Diablo was a high-performance mid-engined sports car built by Italian automaker Lamborghini between 1990 and 2001. It was the first Lamborghini capable of attaining a top speed in excess of 200 miles per hour (320 km/h). After the end of its production run in 2001, the Diablo was replaced by the Lamborghini Murciélago.

At a time when the company was financed by the Swiss-based Mimram brothers, Lamborghini began development of what was codenamed Project 132 in June 1985 as a replacement for the Countach model. The brief stated that its top speed had to be at least 315 km/h.

The design of the car was contracted to Marcello Gandini, who had designed its two predecessors. When Chrysler bought the company in 1987, providing money to complete its development, its management was unimpressed with Gandini’s designs and commissioned its design team in Detroit to execute a third extensive redesign, smoothing out the trademark sharp edges and corners of Gandini's original design, and leaving him famously unimpressed.

The car became known as the Diablo, carrying on Lamborghini's tradition of naming its cars after breeds of fighting bull. The Diablo was named after a ferocious bull raised by the Duke of Veragua in the 19th century, famous for fighting an epic battle with 'El Chicorro' in Madrid on July 11 1869. In the words of Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson, the Diablo was designed "solely to be the biggest head-turner in the world."

The project is believed to have cost a total of 6,000,000,000 lira.
